The tenth race of the Royal Ocean Racing Club's Season's Points Championship will take place this weekend. Starting and finishing in the Solent, the race is expected to take over 24 hours. The weather forecast is for a light northerly breeze for the start, which may build as the race develops. A reasonable breeze enabled prompt windward starts to get away on the laid mark courses from the four committee boats which each look after their selected classes, all of whom were designed before 1970.

The Trustees of the Sir Edward Heath Foundation today presented a half model of Sir Edward's yacht, Morning Cloud 2, to the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble-le-Rice, Hampshire. It is intended as a memento of Britain's most celebrated sailing Prime Minister and of the central role the Club played in his sailing career. The Royal Southern was where Sir Edward and his crews put together their sailing strategies which led to his success in winning, inter alia, the Admiral's Cup in 1971.

Sir Ben Ainslie, the most successful Olympic sailor in history, is setting his sights on the America’s Cup.
On Tuesday, he introduced his team during a ceremony at Queens House, in England, to launch his America’s Cup challenge.
“This is the last great historic sporting prize never won by Great Britain. It has always been my ambition to mount a home challenge,” he said. “The time is right and I am hugely encouraged by the support we are getting, not least from the Duchess of Cambridge. I learned a great deal aboard Oracle in San Francisco and I would not be challenging if I did not believe we have a real chance of winning this time.”
