Retiring Lifeboat Mechanic Gets a Suitable Reminder

Paul Brace, who for years has literally come to grips with the twin outboard engines powering the RNLI’s Cowes inshore lifeboat, received an appropriate gift to mark his departure as joint mechanic:  a spanner affixed to a specially crafted wooden base.

Disabled sailing teen Natasha ‘Miss Isle’ Lambert successfully scaled the 2,907ft Pen Y Fan in the Brecon Beacons to complete her phenomenal Sea and Summit Challenge today (Friday 22 August), then modestly summed up her achievement as “Not bad”!

In July 2013 Natasha Lambert (Miss Isle) successfully completed an historic sail across the Channel. Natasha, 17, was born with athertoid cerebral palsy, which affects her limbs and speech and confines her to a wheelchair. She sails using ‘sip and puff’ - using her breathing alone to control her sailing boat.
